The Nashville Marathon (Country Music Marathon) is extremely well organized. Fluid stops are located every mile and the volunteers are highly supportive. The crowd support is tremendous and creates a highly positive atmosphere. While a bit hilly, this is a very fun and challenging event.
The race uses staggered start times and chip timing which is a major bonus. Staggered start times are based on your projected finish time with you provide when you sign up. The chip timers are attached to your shoe and give you an accurate finish time.
The event includes both full and half marathon runners and had runners in excess of 17,000 in 2005. More than 20,000 runners crossed the finish line in 2006.
While the hills make this course challenging, the atmosphere makes this a very good first marathon or half marathon.
